What is your Word of the Year in 2022?

Word of the Year Evolve

Earlier this month, The New York Times published a piece in their subscriber-only newsletter about why you should choose a word to define this year. Initially, I shrugged it off. After a while, I reconsidered and decided to find a word. I needed something to help change my outlook for this year.

My Word of the Year

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word evolve means, “to change or develop slowly often into a better, more complex, or more advanced stateto develop by a process of evolution.” When I think of the word evolve, I am reminded that life is filled with many opportunities for change and development.

For me, evolve will be to try something new to help my growth – professionally and personally. Even though I am pursuing my master’s degree, I am making a commitment to learn more in the areas where I am weak and continue my growth in the areas where I am strong. I am also seeking to grow more in my marriage and as a parent. Life is evolving, and if you do not choose to pursue growth, you are basically withering away.

My Challenge for You

My challenge to you is to find your word and seek to grow both professionally and personally. It is a great way to start a new year and helps you set goals for the future.
