It has been a while since I last posted. I wanted to bring you up to speed on some recommended reading – articles and books – that I have been enjoying or thinking about over the past few weeks.

Recommended Reading: Books

Over the past few weeks, I have read the following books:

  • The 100X Leader: How to Become Someone Worth Following” by Jeremie Kubacek and Steve Cockram
This was a book that was recommended by my graduate school professor at the University of Oklahoma, and I decided to finish reading the book. It was a great look into how to bring out the best in your colleagues, while seeking to develop and cultivate your own leadership style.
  • Long Island Compromise” by Taffy Brodesser-Akner
At first, I was not certain how I was going to like this book since it is not a genre that I particularly gravitate towards. This book was a page-turner, and it was probably one of the best fictional novels I have read in a long time.
  • Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
I started this in the middle of July and have been taking time to digest what I have been learning. Csikszentmihalyi examines how when we are in the state of flow, we tend to be happier and strive to improve our life.

Articles

Lately, there has been no shortage of interesting articles. Here are a few articles that I recommend:

  • Cypress Hill make 28-year-old Simpsons joke come true” – BBC
Cypress Hill performed with the London Symphony Orchestra and fulfilled a joke from The Simpsons. I am wondering what other joke from the popular TV sitcom will become reality. Paging President Lisa… (just a speculation, not an endorsement)
  • 10 reasons why AI may be overrated” – NPR
AI is the new business buzzword. While AI may make our work life better, there are still many flaws. This article looks into several reasons why AI could be considered overrated, including not being a very honest resource.

Stay tuned for the next edition – I may include some podcasts and videos I have been watching (or listening to).
